As of July 1, 2024, dual occupancy is permitted in most R2 low-density residential zones in New South Wales.
Dual Occupancies in the R2 zone:
Main Criteria:
1. Not heritage, bushfire or flood prone land
2. Lot size 450 sq m or greater
3. Lot width 12 m or greater
4. Floor space ratio 0:65:1 (for example the max floor area within a dual occ development on a 600 m2 lot is 195 m2 per dwelling.)
5. Maximum building height is 9.5 m
