The Team
In line with the new direction that Design Studio 22 has taken, we have assembled a small team of designers who not only perform to a high standard but hold ethics, relationships and technical skills in the highest regard.
Andrew Wilson
Andrew is Design Studio 22’s Nominated Architect & Director and is registered in NSW & QLD. Andrew is also an associate disability consultant with the Association of Consultants in Access Australia (ACAA). He commenced his career in Sydney gaining experience in a wide range of project types including hospitals, shopping centres, small retail, heritage, indoor sports facilities, medium to high rise multi residential and the disability sector.
Since moving to Coffs Harbour in 2004 Andrew has been fortunate to continue working on a broad range of projects including Grafton Convent Renovation, The Big Banana, Coffs Harbour Museum, Schools & TAFEs, Dental Clinics & Doctor Surgeries, Retail and Commercial fitouts and new and renovated single dwellings.
Tony Ross
Tony is also a director at Design Studio 22’s and is our Building Designer having been a member of the Building Designers Association of Australia (BDA) since 1999. Tony is also a volunteer and current President of the Woolgoolga and Northern Beaches Chamber of Commerce. In doing so, Tony is part of a proactive community that hosts major events and assists with the implementation of the Woolgoolga Town Centre masterplan.
Being second generation to the Coffs Coast, Tony commenced his career with his father Barrie at Ross Associates specialising in educational facilities.
Tony has worked on dozens of schools including St. Francis Xavier Primary School Woolgoolga, St. Marys Primary School Bellingen, Bishop Druitt College Coffs Harbour, St. Columba Anglican School Bonville, St. Joseph’s Primary School South Grafton, Clarence Valley Anglican School Grafton and St. Mary’s Anglican School Grafton.
For over 15 years Ross Associates were a leading firm in the region for school designs. Tony now has a strong desire to combine the work he did for so many years with his father and Richard Malcom in both educational, commercial and residential sector.
Lauren Viertel
Lauren is the company’s Interior Designer. After moving to the Coffs Coast in 2019 after completing her Diploma of Interior Design and Decoration in Sydney, Lauren approached us wanting to help our clients create intriguing and unique spaces and gain more experience within the design industry.
With a passion for helping others and particular interest in commercial design, Lauren seeks to create spaces that appeal and can be utilised by anyone. Likewise, with residential projects, Lauren looks forward to getting to know our clients and gain an understanding of why they’ve decided to come to us. Through building rapport, Lauren is able to resolve mood boards, colour pallets and select appropriate fixtures and finishes that clients feel is their own.
Max Melville
Max has been with our team at Design Studio 22 for the past two years. Max is a Coffs Coast local that completed his Advance Diploma of Sustainable Building Design in Sydney (2013). Max has sound knowledge of building practice & technical aspects of drafting & detailing + a great relationship with many local builders.
Max joined our team looking at further developing his building design skills & has been working closely with Andrew & Tony to achieve these goals. Max has a great eye for design & works closely with our clients, Andrew, & Tony to understand & achieve their dream design.
